On Going Projects

AHS

We work with our client and AHS on an ongoing basis, upgrading and maintaining existing systems throughout Southern Alberta.

Cedar Ridge Apartments

Our Cedar Ridge Apartment project involved the demolition of 2 very outdated mechanical rooms, layout of the new equipment, and stick building new mechanical spooling on-site. Existing sanitary and building supply lines proved to be an exceptional challenge to work around.

EP Scarlett High School

Working in schools throughout the Calgary area has become our bread and butter. EP Scarlett High School involved the removal of old heat pumps, rerouting existing equipment, and building spools on site to tie everything back together.

Father David Bauer Arena

This is one of many projects with our client and The City of Calgary. Father David Bauer Arena utilizes “snow pits” to melt and drain off ice scrapings from the Zambonis. These pits consist of a stainless glycol system to melt the ice, and one of these pits had a large leak, introducing glycol into places it shouldn’t be. We needed to cut out the faulty weld, and replace the spool in position, assuring the Glycol system would never leak again.

Fifth & Fifth

Fifth & Fifth was a standard mechanical room upgrade, involving the removal of existing equipment, demolition of old system piping, laying out new equipment and stick building all spools on site.

Grid 5 Apartments

We are continuously working with our client to help make Grid 5 more efficient. This building was originally constructed in 1965 as a hotel in downtown Calgary, and has since been converted into residential suites. Spring of 2022 we will be doing a full teardown of the existing equipment, and redesigning the entire system to provide the needed heat to all of the building, year round.

James Short Parkade

This project was quite the challenge to complete with the timelines that were given to us. We utilized our 3D modelling software to take measurements of the demolished room, develop a model for the glycol heating system, while only working off of a vague P&ID provided. Communication was key in achieving our goal of a 6 week timeline, from measurements to final tie-ins, James Short was completed in 5 weeks 3 days, utilizing our shop to prefabricate 90% of the spools offsite.

Manachaban Middle School

We utilized our shop space to minimize on-site welding, prefabricating spools from customer supplied drawings, and having them ready for installation as soon as demolition was complete and new equipment was installed.

Mount Royal University

With our client, we are continually upgrading heating and chilled systems throughout MRU to keep staff and students comfortable regardless of the time of year.

N.E. ATCO BMS Upgrade

We were asked to come support the installation and facilitation of a new BMS unit for ATCO. This unit heats up the natural gas supplied to all of NE Calgary, ensuring that the lines don’t freeze, and your homes stay warm during the winter months!

240Fourth

Some welders just don’t cut it for our clients, and we enjoy helping them out with short notice. 240Fourth was left by a previous welding company at the halfway point, we were able to verify the completed welds were acceptable, and help complete the mechanical room in a timely manner.

Rancheview School

Rocky View’s Rancheview School in Cochrane was a fun little project where we had an existing system that was underperforming, so the client opted to replace the existing boilers. Using our 3D modelling software, we were able to take measurements, have our client approve the design, and prefabricate all spools within 2 weeks. Installation took ½ of a day, proving that welding offsite can be, in most cases, more cost effective.

Springbank Middle School

We had to revamp 2 mechanical rooms in Springbank, out with the old and in with the new! All welding was done on site, as design changes continued to happen, and we needed to have someone there at all times to ensure our scope was performed in a timely manner.

The Fifth

Working on 17th Avenue SW in Calgary was a blast, minus the parking situation! At The Fifth, there was extensive system piping throughout the main floor to provide services for commercial businesses. We also stick build all system piping in the parkade for the mechanical room, working alongside our client every step of the way.

The Theodore

The Theodore is a 10 story building located in Kensington, just south of SAIT. We were enlisted to weld the supply risers for the building, while also assisting with the design and construction of the mechanical room, supplying the necessary systems to keep everyone comfortable!

UpTen

Towers are always a ton of work, and difficult to coordinate our welding equipment. UpTen is a 42 story residential building, with 2 floors containing mechanical rooms, and extensive system piping throughout the building to supply all units with adequate heat and water. Working this closely with various trades takes good communication and project coordination.

White Oak Playground

White Oak was a unique project involving the design and construction of 3 picture frames for Indiginous art. These frames were required to be weatherproof, but also serviceable and breathable to our hard Canadian environment.

YYC Control Tower Chiller Upgrade

The YYC control tower was constructed alongside the massive airport expansion a couple years ago. Unfortunately, the cooling system was not functioning as per spec, so our client asked us to come and revamp the system, so our local controllers didn’t cook in the hot summer sun.
